The Technicals

This aims to help you understand what we’re all about in a practical sense.

What is your show like?

We believe that the music speaks for itself, so we play most of our music in “blocks”. This means we play 10-15 minutes of music at a time without stopping or dropping the beat. The entire goal is to keep the energy going. We intersperse drinking songs, toasts, “dance-a-longs” (of course we play the Chicken Dance among others) between the blocks. We’re mostly wireless so we can walk among the crowd and get them involved.

How many of you are there?

Our core group is 6 members. Accordion, trumpet/tuba, guitar/mandolin, banjo/guitar, bass, drums. At times we may have special guests along.

So you’re a German band? Or Italian? Polish?

We have costuming for both German and Italian events. We can modify our sets to lean into a specific ethnicity. Polkas, German, and Italian songs are our main focus though we have songs covering most cultures that include an accordion.

Are you loud?

We may surprise you. We can play in exceptionally small venues up to as big as there is. Between the use of V-Drums and acoustic instruments – we can be as as quiet (or loud) as you require. To give you an idea, we easily can hold a conversation when we rehearse and have played small restaurants where everyone was comfortable.

Do you provide your own sound?

Typically we do and we prefer to. We have a specific tried and true mix template that we have developed over the years and one of our members has been a professional studio and live engineer for >25 years. We REALLY pride ourselves on our live sound. That said, we’re flexible. For larger venues we’re happy to work with your Front of House folks to make it awesome.
